Ready to write your self-help or natural health and wellness book? I can help you move from stuck to start to finish. You may need help defining your idea, building a structure or want feedback and accountability as you write and revise. It depends on you and the book that you dream of writing.

Maybe You:

  • Feel unsure about how to go from idea to finished manuscript.

  • Struggle with procrastination and need accountability.

  • Feel stuck after you’ve written the first few chapters because they’re not working.

  • Need to up your game after you’ve received negative feedback from your agent or publisher.

  • Need help with a book proposal or marketplace guidance on how to pitch your book to agents and publishers.

Together we can develop a plan to meet your specific goals. You can enter this process anywhere along the way, depending on where you are in your journey to write your best book, what your goals are and what type of help you need.

All 1:1 Monthly Book Coaching & Editing Packages Include:

  • Two deadlines per month to submit elements of your non-fiction book in progress, such as up to 24 pages of your manuscript or your book proposal for review. I’ll provide a summary letter and editorial comments in Track Changes (Microsoft Word).

  • Two 60-minute phone/ZOOM calls a month (after you’ve submitted content or pages for review) to discuss your progress, provide feedback and plan next steps.

  • E-mail support.

  • Editorial guidance, support, feedback, and accountability.

Before we begin our work on your book or book proposal I’ll send you a client intake form so that I can learn more about you, your idea, any issues or problems you may have and your goals. You'll also receive a letter of agreement that will outline our work together.

Keep in mind that the packages below cover the most important aspects of writing a non-fiction book but can be adapted to meet your specific needs. I've noted the average time it takes to complete each part but this may be more or less time than you need in order to meet your goals depending on how much time you can devote to the process.

1:1 Monthly Book Coaching & Editing Packages

Part 1: The Roadmap: Blueprint for a Book

We'll use Blueprint for a Book, created by Jennie Nash, the author of Blueprint for a Nonfiction Book, an in-depth comprehensive approach to help you plan the book you want to write and establish a solid foundation. This is for you if you’re just getting started or are stuck and need to reimagine and rewrite your book. Clarify your idea, audience, and message. Know why your book matters and how it fits in the marketplace. Putting a roadmap into place saves you time and energy. In Part ONE you will:

  • Define your idea, method, or plan so it’s clear, concise and takes readers on a transformational journey.

  • Define your ideal reader, identify your audience and more.

  • Create a structure, a Table of Contents and a narrative design that serves your mission and the reader’s needs.

  • Get expert editorial guidance, feedback, and support so that your foundation is solid, and you can move from Blueprint to book proposal (or manuscript if you're self-publishing) with confidence.

  • Average duration: 1-2 months.

Part Two: The Proposal

Once you’ve defined your idea, your ideal reader, audience, structure and more, you’ll write a compelling proposal with overview, bio, audience, marketing plan, comp titles, TOC, and sample chapters. You'll be ready to pitch to agents or publishers or self-publish. In Part TWO, you’ll:

  • Create a book proposal that attracts the attention of agents and book publishers who will invest in you and your book project.

  • Get guidance, feedback, and direction on the 8 must-have elements of a winning book proposal (including a sample chapter) and how to make your content shine.

  • Examples of book proposals that sold to publishers.

  • Regular deadlines so that you can manage your time along with accountability and support.  Average duration: 2-3 months.

If you plan to self-publish you can skip this step and go to straight to Part Three although a book proposal can help you clarify your goals and content and enable you to write faster and more easily.

DISCLAIMER: I can’t guarantee that your book proposal will result in an offer of representation, a publishing contract, or sales but it will represent your idea, method or plan and your expertise in the best way possible. What I will do is support you in writing your best book.

Part 3: The Pitch

Once you have finished writing your book proposal, it’s time to craft a query letter, research agents, and create an effective pitch strategy for traditional publishing. In Part THREE, you’ll learn how to:

  • Research agents and publishers.

  • Write a query letter that sells.

  • Create a list of agents to pitch who have a track record of selling books like yours to traditional publishers.

  • Create a pitch strategy for which agents to pitch in what order, how to find the best match for you and your book, and how to respond to offers of representation, comments, and rejections. Average duration: 1-2 months.

Part 4: The Manuscript

Whether you have a contract to write your book or are self-publishing Part FOUR is a combination of developmental editing and book coaching, a thorough and complete process that will help you revise your manuscript so that it’s ready for publication. Part FOUR ensures that the:

  • Content is clear, engaging, and actionable and aligns with your message and goals.

  • Tone is reader friendly, encouraging, authoritative and positive.

  • The structure and narrative design serves the book’s promise and takes readers on a transformational journey. Average duration: 3-6 months.
